If you have never considered Madison Wisconsin a gay Mecca, you may have to explain that to Patrick Farabaugh. The talented journalist from Indiana by way of New York helped bring the first gay hockey league to Wisconsin when he founded the Madison Gay Hockey Association and now has created the publication Our Lives, which is the first gay publication for the midwestern city.

Wisconsin: Madison Officials Can Protest Same-Sex Marriage Ban While Being Sworn In

The City Council in Madison, Wis. this week voted to let officeholders announce they are taking the oath under protest because they oppose a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. After swearing to uphold the state constitution, officeholders will be allowed to add that, in their view, the gay-marriage amendment 'besmirches' that document.

Lambda Legal Seeks Justice for Gay Man Who Was Beaten
In court papers last week, Lambda Legal seeks recovery for damages suffered by Brett Timmerman after he was attacked because he is gay. Timmerman, a student at UW-Platteville, at the time of the assault, was about to walk into a local sandwich shop when his would-be attackers called him a 'faggot’ and struck him in the head before pushing him to the ground.

Wisconsin Poll Shows 'Undecideds' Are Key to Gay Marriage Ban

A recent statewide poll conducted in Wisconsin reveals that nearly half of the state’s likely voters support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. According to the poll, 48 percent of likely voters are in favor of a gay marriage ban while 40 percent oppose it. The remaining 12 percent, categorized as ‘undecided,’ could sway the vote either way.

Wisconsin Labor Unions Unite Against Gay Marriage and Civil Union Ban

Labor unions in Wisconsin are uniting to fight a proposed ban on gay marriage and civil unions in what could become a powerful force in the Nov. 7 referendum. The groups, representing employees ranging from teachers to prison workers, say they are worried the amendment will take away their ability to bargain for benefits such as health insurance for the domestic partners of gay and straight employees.

In conjunction, the organization will host a 'Delicious Lesbian Kisses' New Year's Eve celebration, Sunday, December 31 as a part of the 'Pink Party' at the Inn on the Park in Madison, Wisconsin.

Madison Ranked Among Nation's Best Gay-Friendly Places to Call Home
Madison can add yet another accolade to its growing list of national rankings, being recently chosen as one of the 50 Fabulous Gay-Friendly Places to Live, in Gregory A. Kompes' newly published book. Kompes compiled his list using criteria such as gay-positive local politics, a dynamic gay community with well-sponsored events, fun nightlife and positive gay outreach programs.
